The Role of Pharmacotherapeutics in Periodontal Diseases

About This Seminar

This is an AVP presentation on the role of irrigation and mouth rinses in reducing gingivitis, sustained-release, anti-microbials as an additional benefit to scaling and root planning, the use of systemic antibiotics in the treatment of some form of periodontitis and the role of host modulating agents in limiting periodontitis. The goal of the presentation is directed to clinicians thinking along lines consistent with evidence-based methodology, to provide the clinicians with information relevant to the clinical area of focus, and to encourage clinicians to more effectively critique current literatures.

About Maria Moran, DMD, MS

Dr. Moran graduated from the University of the Philippines College of Dentistry. She also completed her Masters degree in Oral Biology from the Temple University Kornmberg School of Dentistry at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Besides her MS degree. she also holds a Certificate in Periodontology and Implantology from the same school.

Dr. Moran is a Fellow and a Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. She is also a member of the American Academy of Periodontology. Dr. Moran also completed a Surgical Implant Program from the Misch Implant Institute in Detroit, Michigan as well as a Program in Advanced Bone Grafting.

Dr. Moran practices in the Torrance area with her husband, J. Sebastian Moran.
